Nextcloud has long supported video conferencing with Nextcloud Talk.
Unfortunately, the solution had a catch: video chats with more than four to five people were not possible here. Nextcloud always issued a warning from a certain number of participants and you could only wait for the connection to break at some point.
With the so-called high-performance backend for Nextcloud, video conferences with many more participants are possible.
The part of the high-performance backend that is of interest to Talk is now available as open source (see Nextcloud blog). To be more precise, this is the so-called signaling server.
However, the signaling server requires a lot of resources and must therefore be installed on suitable hardware.
We will soon be offering new signaling server packages on our website, but our existing customers can already order them.
With the Signaling Server Addon, you get your own signaling server, not a shared backend server.
We offer 4 different signaling backend systems:
SIG#1 with up to 10 users at the same time possible: 5€ per month, 50€ per year or 150€ onetime/lifetime/one-off
SIG#2 with up to 25 users at the same time possible: 10€ per month, 100€ per year or 200€ onetime/lifetime/one-off
SIG#3 with up to 50 users at the same time possible: 25€ per month, 250€ per year or 400€ onetime/lifetime/one-off
SIG#4 with up to 100 users at the same time possible: 40€ per month, 400€ per year or 900€ onetime/lifetime/one-off
Our new SIG packages can already be ordered in the customer panel: https://owncube.com/store/signaling-backend
